ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ TRIO

PRANA

After the enthusiastically received albums "Niemen improvising" (2009)

and "Hendrix Piano" (2010) and original "Mazurkach" (2012)

Artur Dutkiewicz recorded another excellent album.

This artist is invariably in great shape.

"Prana" will bring joy not only to jazz improvisation enthusiasts, but also to those looking for music that will charge their life batteries, allow them to relax and encourage them to act.

Marek Dusza, Rzeczpospolita

The leader's stunning solos and his unconventional management as well as the collaboration of all musicians are a great strength. In my opinion, this is the best pianist trio in his career. I recall (despite the different stylistics) the historical and exemplary trios by Ahmad Jamal for such a line-up.

Artur Dutkiewicz has achieved his own style, bright musical personality,

it is recognizable what is most important for a jazzman.

Piotr Rodowicz, Jazz Forum

Artur Dutkiewicz masterfully creates moods and transforms fascinations drawn from various musical traditions. In the title track, he combines the spirit of contemporary jazz with the classics of the "Kind of Blue" period. He dances after the piano in "Warsaw Oberek", and in "Polish Mazurka" he breaks down the title dance, of course in his own way, into prime factors. In the quite lively "Mr Prospero" he plays as singingly as if he traversed the vocal line on the piano, and in "Above the Clouds" pride leisurely in a free-jazz spirit.

Jędrzej Słodkowski, Gazeta Wyborcza

"Prana" is a beautiful album. The music contained on the disc, with such a significant title, gives the impression of spaciousness and enhances the feeling of inner harmony. If we only listen and let this music guide us, we can move to another dimension, set on the foundations of bliss, peace and joy.

Maria Zimny, JazzPress

Dutkiewicz fills each note with warmth. The sounds created by the trio are captivating. Really mature jazz.

HENDRIX PIANO

..... Excellent arrangements, full of unexpected turns, did not allow me to tear myself away from listening to this album. This project can be summarized briefly: a bold idea and great implementation. This is an album that is worth reaching for out of curiosity and coming back many times for the sheer pleasure of listening to it.

Maciej Polanski, Estrada and Studio 2010

.... nobody had such an idea for Hendriks. Such

and so realized. As a result, we have an interesting, fresh and sublime album. A record dressing blues emotion in a jazz form. Even though it is a studio album, you can listen to it as a concert one. This is a big advantage.

I would love to listen to this material live!

I rarely lack words to describe what I heard at a concert, but the performance of this piece ("Voodoo Child" from the next album of Artur Dutkiewicz's Trio "Hendrix Piano") was just ... PHENOMENAL? I think that's a good word ... A perfect and strong ending to a very good performance by Trio, which definitely went down in golden letters on the pages of JaZzuGdynia's history.

The jazz interpretation of Little Wing, Manic Depression or The Wind Cries Mary presented by the acoustic trio of Artur Dutkiewicz at the Duesseldorf Jazz Rally 2011 - met with an enthusiastic response from the audience filling the concert hall and the lightning sale of the album during the concert break. The musicians managed to do a very difficult thing - by completely changing the form of the musical expression of Hendrix's music, they kept its spirit and evoked the emotions associated with it.

Jacek Wróbel, Jazz Forum 2011

In Artur Dutkiewicz's interpretation, the Hendriks's idiom took on a new, unexpected glow. The resulting music is convincing in every respect, diverse and rich in interesting rhythmic and harmonic solutions. The masterful performance of each of the pieces gives the listener the satisfaction of communing with professionalism of the highest order. Musicians understand the metaphysical way, and these relationships formed acoustic magic. Peter Kałużny Jazz Forum 2010

INDIVIDUAL IMPROVISATIONS

Dionizy Piątkowski RECOMMENDS "Niemen Improvisations" by Artur Dutkiewicz, Dionizy Piątkowski - Era of Jazz

The very interesting album "Niemen Improwizacje" by Artur Dutkiewicz's trio,

which deals with the compositions of Czesław Niemen.

How can you deal with "monumental" hits today, such as:

"Sen o Warszawy", "Pod parugami", "Remembrance," Bema mourning rhapsody "," One heart "," Before spring comes "," Ciuciubabka "," Do you still remember me "," I'm standing in the window "," Marionettes "? I answer - it's great when the interpretation (improvisation?) Was undertaken by remarkable and extremely creative artists: an outstanding pianist, composer

and arranger Artur Dutkiewicz, Sebastian Frankiewicz - one

from the most talented drummers of the young jazz generation and Darek Oles Oleszkiewicz - Polish double bass player living in the USA, one of the world's leading jazz double bass players. Are better recommendations needed?

"Niemen Improwizacje" / Krakow, Rotunda 17.02.2009

The trio sounded great. Their interpretations, especially "One heart", "Bem in memory of the mourning rhapsody", "Memories", "Pod Papugami", "Do you still remember me?" they will be remembered by Niemen's fans for a long time. Thanks to the virtuoso, focused and inventive playing of all three. And the solo piano performance of "The Marionettes" is a real masterpiece that made shivers down my spine.

                                                                    Jerzy Armata, Gazeta Wyborcza, Krakow

A beautiful, captivating with themes and style of playing album. They will listen to it

and Niemen lovers and jazz fans.

                                                              Wacław Kurpiński, Dziennik Polski, Kraków

"Artur Dutkiewicz plays Niemen beautifully"

It is great that the singer, musician and composer, who had long since regretted memory, found an interpreter in the person of Artur Dutkiewicz who was able to place his clear, sweeping signature under his sounds. This music lifts the listener, captivates him and touches him.

Krzysztof Masłoń, Rzeczpospolita

The melodic songs of Czesław Niemen are perfect material for swinging improvisations. Our outstanding jazz pianist, Artur Dutkiewicz, who has recorded ten classic non-men's hits with a trio, knows about it. He gave them a sharp jazz edge, introducing them to the mainstream tracks of the genre.

"Before Spring", in the atmosphere of Bill Evans, gives the impression that it has always been a jazz waltz. "Ciuciubabka" brings to mind modern-jazz blues and "One Heart" sounds almost like blues that never left the Mississippi Delta. The pearl of the album is "Bema of memory rhapsody", played like an ethereal ballad.

Piotr Iwicki, Gazeta Wyborcza

The program, consisting of beautiful compositions popularized by Czesław Niemen and congenially compiled by Artur, amazes with the richness of the means of expression. The album is listened to with full satisfaction, the more so that next to the modern mainstream, there are, among others, New Orleans funk, blues allegory, jazz waltz, nostalgic ballad, quasi calypso and fast-paced halfwalking. At the end, there is also a beautiful solo impression by Artur Dutkiewicz ( Marionettes ).

                                                                              Piotr Kałużny, Jazz Forum

These ten songs are timeless music, and the album is a multi - reusable album!

ARTHUR DUTKIEWICZ SOLO PIANO

MAZURKI

Summer Jazz Festival in Piwnica Pod Rams

Philharmonic / Krakow 2014

Artur Dutkiewicz's recital was developing in an extremely spiritual atmosphere. The artist's repertoire includes, among others his mazurkas - compositions of rare beauty, inspired by jazz and piano music from the beginning of the 20th century.

The pianist's unbelievable imagination and technique, artistry in handling form, harmony and dynamics, and the magical aura emanating from the phrases he played made a great impression on the audience.

Bogdan Chmura, Jazz Forum

5 ***** for the album "Mazurki" in Jazz Forum

As soon as I put the disc / "Mazurkas" / into the player, I have to listen to it to the end.
And then again. There are a few hit themes here, such as "Mazurek Oberek" opening the album. With "Mazurka from Kielce" you want to sing, and with "Mazowiecki" you want to dance. Listening to this album, I had compelling associations with Chick Corea's cycle "Children's Song". "Both me and Corea draw inspiration from the music of Bela Bartok" - explained the pianist. I pondered the wonderful connection between classical music and jazz, the unhindered flow of thoughts and feelings between epochs, styles and artists. And the "Moon Mazurka" helped me in this.

Marek Dusza, Jazz Forum

"The first who is leading the mazurka"

The album "Mazurkas" by Artur Dutkiewicz is one of the few that was created at the meeting point of contemporary improvised music

and folk.
Dutkiewicz gave a sophisticated, timeless form to the simple rhythms and catchy melodies. Discoverers of new sounds are listened to with curiosity, and references to classical music
and jazz will please every erudite.

It's real music, that comes from the heart and full of emotion. You will find here a lot of positive energy, Slavic dances, rhythms and melodies that we all know, but often cannot name. Be warned though, this excellent album that, like any addictive outstanding work.

Rafał Garszczyński, RadioJazz.FM

"The pianist and composer Artur Dutkiewicz played his mazurkas sensational."

A
Two "Improvised Mazurkas" and "Trane", "Satwiczny" and "Blue" are spectacular here, but the most remembered are the wonderful carnival miniatures: "Gonions" and "Africa". This album encourages focus, dreams and joy.

Adam Ciesielski, I Think Sculpture

Dutkiewicz's music retains everything that is best in mazurkas; form, but also melody and typically Polish lyricism, giving them a new life at the same time. An excellent example of this approach is the "African Mazurka", in which a swaying rhythm creates the basis for crazy improvisation on modified scales. "Mazurkas" is the most interesting adventure of Polish musicians with the piano in recent years.

"Jazzurki Dutkiewicza"

Dutkiewicz treated the mazurkas as an excellent excuse to associate romantic stylistics with jazz. This gives a fresh and very contemporary effect.

Artur Dutkiewicz "Mazurki" / Warsaw, The Royal Castle

In his "Mazurkas" Artur Dutkiewicz gave free rein to the imagination

in free, romantic improvisations that make a really big impression. Extensive figurations, the ubiquitous pentatonic scale, combined with a lively, rhythmic setting created an almost trance-like atmosphere. The pianist narrated from the heart's reflex, there was also energy and joy in his music, there was form and clear message.

The freedom to develop thematic threads, fingertip proficiency, unusual technique and imagination delighted the listeners. The inner peace and the very endearing manner of the artist, who had to satisfy the audience with three encores, were also important.
